You know what’s great?
That when I’m feeling down, I can watch this movie, and suddenly everything seems better.
And you know what’s even better?
That I know that. So no matter what, I always have this to come back to.
Feels like a superpower.
And as I’m writing these lines, the first tunes of Cornfield Chase begin, so I have to take a break from writing…
This is most definitely my favorite piece by Hans Zimmer, and it plays such a huge role in my admiration for the movie.
There were times when I listened to the soundtrack daily.
I really love how Cooper is not a perfect father. Even though we see that he deeply loves his children, the film does not try to hide his selfish reasons for going on this mission. Especially the scenes where he’s watching the tape recordings are among my favorites.
But that’s obviously not what makes this movie my favorite blockbuster. It’s the combination of the cinematography, the soundtrack, and my fascination with space and time. It’s the great staging and the way this story is told, which brings all these aspects together so wonderfully—coming together perfectly in the docking scene.
For too long, I have denied my love for this film. But no more of that. It’s awesome!
But now, I am going to sleep on my balcony with the stars above and Brand’s words in my head:
“Do not go gentle into that good night.”
Consider this my declaration of love for the movie.
